What is the difference between a guide and a skipper?

- A skipper has a state qualification (Captain 200 or Yacht Master for example). He is paid for this activity.

During your cruise, he is at the controls!

- A guide is generally the owner of the boat who wishes to remain on board as a passenger. They cannot be paid for this activity.

The owner can share his knowledge of the boat and the sailing area with you, but he cannot touch the controls, even for manoeuvres.
